Neurostructural Therapy, or NST, is a gentle manual technique developed in Australia in the 1990s from the Bowen technique. The practitioner applies short, precise moves, known as Pri-moves, to specific points on muscles, tendons and fascia along the spine and limbs. Between each series he steps away and lets the body integrate: these pauses are part of the method.
The principle is to speak to the nervous system rather than force the muscle. The moves send a signal that invites the body to release tension it may have been holding for months. At Izzy, NST is practised by Henry, co-founder and massage therapist trained in traditional and holistic techniques. It may ease tension and muscular pain and contribute to better posture. Available at Izzy Spa and Izzy Studio.
Who is it for?
NST is for people living with recurring tension: back, neck, shoulders, hips, aches that return after every ski season in Verbier or every long day at a desk. It suits all ages, including older or frailer guests for whom deep massage would be too much, and those who feel they have tried everything. If you are after direct muscular work, the sports massage remains the right choice; the two approaches complement each other well.
How the treatment goes
- Welcome and consultation Henry takes time to understand your story: where it pulls, since when, what eases or aggravates it, your history. He observes your posture standing for a few moments.
- Settling in You lie on the table in underwear or light clothing; NST is done directly on the skin or through thin fabric. The room is quiet and the light soft.
- Sequences of moves Henry applies series of Pri-moves over the back, then as needed on the shoulders, pelvis, legs or jaw. Each move is precise and painless: a light draw of the skin followed by a release.
- Integration pauses After each series he leaves the table for two to five minutes. These silences can feel strange at first: this is when the nervous system does its work. Many people notice warmth, a rumbling stomach or a wave of relaxation.
- Back to calm You get up slowly. Henry gives you a few guidelines for the next 24 hours and, if useful, suggests a date for the following session.
Benefits
- Chronic tension eased

Good to know
Allow for 2 to 3 sessions a week apart for a lasting result. Avoid intense exercise, the sauna and other body treatments on the same day to let the body integrate. NST can also be offered as a gift card. NST does not replace a diagnosis or medical care. If you have a recent injury, a fever or are pregnant, speak to Henry before booking.
Frequently asked questions
No. The moves are light, often compared to the pressure of a palm or a gentle roll of the skin. There is no cracking and no joint manipulation. The only surprise is the silence between series, during which the body keeps responding.
For recent tension, one or two sessions are often enough. For a long-standing issue, Henry recommends two to three sessions a week apart, then maintenance spaced according to your needs. Each session lasts 60 minutes and costs CHF 130.
Most often deeply relaxed, sometimes tired that evening. Some people notice mild soreness or a brief return of symptoms for 24 to 48 hours before things improve; this is a normal adjustment response. Drink plenty of water and take a gentle walk.
The durations shown are the actual treatment time. Allow about ten extra minutes for the welcome and for changing.
