Born in Japanese salons, the Head Spa is a complete scalp ritual with water as its common thread. Lying back with your head resting in a comfortable basin, you receive an exfoliating cleanse that frees the roots of sebum, styling-product build-up and impurities, followed by a long massage of the scalp, neck and shoulders under a continuous flow of warm water.
The ritual ends with nourishing and hydrating treatments chosen for your hair type: fine, thick, coloured, dry or oily. Over 100 minutes the scalp breathes again, circulation is stimulated and the mind switches off entirely; many people fall asleep. The Head Spa is offered at Izzy Studio on Route des Creux in Verbier.
Who is it for?
For scalps that itch, flake or get oily quickly, for hair left dull by a winter of beanies and ski helmets in Verbier, and for anyone who carries their stress in the head, jaw and neck. How the treatment goes
- Welcome and consultation We examine your scalp, sometimes with a magnifier, and talk about your hair: colour, products, sensitivity. This determines the treatments we use.
- Scalp exfoliation A gentle scrub is applied section by section and massaged in to lift impurities and dead skin. The roots already feel lighter.
- Water massage Under a stream of warm water, the practitioner massages the scalp, temples, neck and upper shoulders at length, alternating deep pressure and light strokes. This is the heart of the ritual.
- Treatments and mask A shampoo suited to your hair, then a nourishing or hydrating mask left to work under warm steam so it penetrates the fibre. While it sets, the massage continues on your hands or face.
- Back to calm Rinse, gentle dry and a few tips to prolong the effects. You leave with clean, light, glossy hair and an empty head.

Good to know
Come with unwashed hair, ideally free of styling products, and with nothing scheduled straight afterwards: you leave in a state of calm that would be a shame to cut short. The ritual is new at the Studio and can be booked online or by WhatsApp; it also makes a lovely gift card. If you have a current scalp condition or lesion, wait until it has cleared; please also mention any colour applied less than 48 hours ago.

Yes. Products are chosen to respect colour, and the water massage does not strip it. For curly or coily hair we adapt the detangling and the mask. Simply wait 48 hours after fresh colour.
Because every stage needs time: the exfoliation alone takes around fifteen minutes, the water massage more than thirty, and the mask has to set. That is what sets the Head Spa apart from a quick shampoo and scalp rub at the hairdresser. The session costs CHF 180.
A single Head Spa already makes a real difference to how light the scalp feels and how the hair shines. For a scalp that regularly gets oily or itchy, a ritual every four to six weeks gives steadier results.
